Having opened up the latest tax bill, and seeing what the schools and fire district have added to that "HIT". What does NOLS think will happen? What does this special election cost us taxpayer? (side bar - the Seattle library vote is on their primary ballot Aug. 6- why wasn't that done here -the bean counter "gene" in me is asking! Can you spell WASTE!
That video clip on Canada wrestling with the promotion of sexual deviancy is simultaneously sad and hilarious. I was impressed that anyone could repeatedly spew all those acronym letters, let alone have any understanding for what they might represent. In this strife for sexual identity acknowledgement I find it glaringly obvious that heterosexuals are completely ignored. Clearly heterosexuality is too small a minority to trouble with. I can see deviant sexual orientation will soon be mandatory participation in all public works, but I am challenged to imagine how the Government staffed and managed compliance offices will certify sexual deviancy. When sexual orientation takes precedence over infrastructure, safety and economic opportunity I ask the famous Dr. Phil question "and how is that workin for ya ?
I love the library and I frequently make use of many of its services. However, I will be voting no on this levy. The increase in digital media available through library is amazing! Hoopla, Libby, books on CD, or audiobooks online, CDs and DVDsare all available through the library! There are job training courses online, free magazines and online magazines…I could go on and on. These are all wonderful, legitimate uses of a library. The community rooms are great. It is a wonderful resource for our community both for children and adults.
However, the library has a warming/narcan center is a hard no. I have attended concerts at the library and I feel like that is a bit of mission drift. Bring back overdue fees. I certainly made an effort to return materials on time when there was a penalty! Spending $50k on a consultant is ridiculous. I don’t have an issue with sensitivity training, but that cost is ridiculous. Be responsible with public funds. They are a public resource find someone to ‘train’ them through the online training that is already part of their catalog. Also, with all of those digital resources, I don’t see why they need more personnel. They should be able to eliminate jobs, not need to add more!
I do agree that they definitely try to push a certain angle. I attended some of the book clubs before covid and we were never able to get joyful books. It was always something set in a war-torn country with incredible hardship. Outside of the book clubs, it is incredibly easy to get the library to buy most any book you want. I came from a large city and county and I was never able to successfully persuade the library to buy a book I wanted until we moved here.
Thank you for sharing all the good things the library helps with! Since I don’t go, I don’t know all the resources they provide. I just don’t want narcan and sewing machine rentals to be something they provide. LOL.
I'll say"vote NO" ! The library should stay in it's lane if they want a Yes from anyone in our household. Keep it a safe place away from pedophiles and political ideologies.
The public services is down the road, they'll even give you a sandwich.
This is what is coming, is it better? I don't know, but I would certainly like to have an "advisor" at every meeting and a "second opinion" on decisions. We certainly need "new blood".
I’d rather it be just a voice with a red dot like HAL in Space Odyssey or moving bars like KITT in Knight Rider, than a creepy robot. LOL. Robots still need handlers though, so I’d be curious who is handling the board director, in a strictly business sense of course. LOL.
