Thanks so much for bringing this up! For me, it's the lack of media exposure with our law enforcement. Having retired from a department (much larger than here) but still much more could be done for our citizens here. As you bring up, one "excuse" is always lack of resources. For our Sheriff's dept/ PD, it doesn't take a 100K plus position, PIO, a year to send out a few more messages of warnings, updates, etc. as your example shows from another county. As another example, here is a direct quote from the Sheriff's department I retired from. Shortly after, within a couple hours of the attack in Iran.

Quote, "the XXX sheriff's Department is closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East and remains in communication with our federal, state and local partners. At this time, there are no known threats to XXX county. Out of an abundance of caution, we have increased patrols around places of worship, and other key locations across the county. These proactive steps reflect our continued commitment to preparedness and public safety. We also recognize that many residents have loved ones serving the United Sates Armed Forces. We are grateful for their service and the sacrifices made by military families. We remind the public, if you see something, say something. If you observe suspicious, concerning activity, report it immediately to local law enforcement.

I haven't see anything from this county similiar, unless I missed something. That took only a few minutes to submit out via social media to let people know they are aware, just reassuring the public. I think it was needed here. Grated we are not a huge county, but we all know lots of Seattle problems make it out here on the peninsula.

Yesterday a FB post came out from the Sheriff's department about the death on Deer Park, stating it was now a homicide and reaching out to the public if they have any information to please call, that was good. However, I would suggest they also, obviously without compromising the investigation, inform the public, if they are in danger. I had a friend call me and say she was quite scared and now adds some items (chairs) in front of front door besides locking it, when she goes to sleep at night. She is quite frightened that it might be someone that could kill "older folks" as the victim was elderly. A simple message from the Sheriff could help. I've been here now many years and this has just been a pet peeve for me. It's just crickets most of the time and with our landscape changing and more crime, I do believe there should be much more transparency. Reminder keep your head on a swivel!

I thought of you, CAS, and how you have brought up this very suggestion on CCWD. People do feel safer and more prepared on how to handle a situation when they are informed.

Thank you for sharing what other sheriffs do to help their communities. Now that the decertification bill has passed in this state, and even though I don’t like it for many reasons, I don’t think the county sheriff out here has anything to worry about since he already isn’t doing what could threaten his job — informing the public and speaking out against bad legislation that keeps criminals on the street. He only speaks out when his job is threatened, and that is a sad statement on his priorities.

Always be swiveling!

Between Clallamity Jen (et al), the Strait Shooter, CCWD, the Olymoic Herald, and many other blogs from people in-the-know, Clallam County has a higher percentage of longevity than recently thought. The different formats, angles, and perspectives that also include comment sections from all these sources allow readers to be a part of the community. We feel we have a say and now we can voice our concerns and kudos on everything. Thank you all who bring us this valuable piece of freedom.

My once dream of main stream media and alternative media trading places has happened. We still have MSM Rachel Maddows telling us the COVID "vaccines" will stop COVID dead in it's tracks and you will no longer contract COVID nor spread COVID, if you simply inject theses experimental toxins. As sad as that example is, I am ultimately thankful for it because people finally were able to see MSM lies and does so prolifically. Is it Pfizer that advertises on CNN or is it the other way around ?
